Kick Back, Relax, and Enjoy Your Stay at the Wilderness Lodge

The centerpiece of the Wilderness Lodge Resort very well may be the expansive lobby. Towering eight stories, the lobby is filled with carved totem poles, Native American art pieces, and a fireplace as tall as the lobby itself with rocking chairs in front of it for you to relax and take in all the lobby has to offer. The fireplace itself is a piece of art. Take a look at the different colored layers all the way to the top. Each layer represents the over 2 billion years it took for the rock to form and create the strata of the Grand Canyon. While you’re staying at the Wilderness Lodge, find some time to pull up a chair, kick back, relax, and enjoy your stay!

Electrical Water Pageant

The Electrical Water Pageant floats nightly, weather permitting, across the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.  Each resort can catch the parade at different times:

Polynesian — 9:00 p.m.

Grand Floridian — 9:15 p.m.

Wilderness Lodge — 9:35 p.m.

Ft. Wilderness — 9:45 p.m.

Contemporary — 10:05 p.m

The parade consists of fourteen floats with each float having its own musical piece played during the parade.  The finale of the parade is a patriotic theme with Stars and Stripes on the floats and the music of  “You’re a Grand Old Flag”, “Yankee Doodle”, and “America the Beautiful”.

And today we have a bonus photo.  On the night of the above photo a storm was coming slowly across Bay Lake and it made for quite a capture.

Wilderness Lodge and Courtyard

On this day in 1994, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge opened its grand doors to guests. Designed after the Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone National Park, the resort is modeled to represent the Pacific Northwest and Native American history and culture.

The courtyard boasts beautifully landscaped grounds surrounding the resort’s pool that begins as a spring in the lobby and flows (magically) out of the building, down a little rocky creek, and into the pool.  The stream continues past the courtyard and down to Bay Lake where guests can relax on the beach and enjoy snacks and drinks from the Trout Pass Pool Bar.  Also on the courtyard grounds is a working geyser that erupts hourly every day from 7am to 10pm.

A perfect stay at Disney for me includes many afternoons by the pool and out in the courtyard of the Wilderness Lodge.

Home Away from Home – Wilderness Lodge

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has made its way into our heart as our home away from home.  This resort has beautiful grounds, comfy and warmly decorated rooms, and an amazing lobby complete with a fireplace as high as the ceiling itself.  There’s nothing better than relaxing by the pool in the courtyard after spending time in the parks.
