Disney's Pop Century Resort
Apologies for missing a post yesterday. Family emergency kept us away. Saturday’s photos can come from anywhere, so today we’re picking up with what should have been posted yesterday, a photo from the WDW Resorts!
Disney’s Pop Century Resort, one of Disney’s value resorts, opened with Phase I, the Classic Years, in December 2003. Phase II, the Legendary Years, was never finished but the building is now finally being turned into the newly announced Art of Animation Resort, set to open in 2012.
Each building at Pop Century is themed to a different decade from the 1950’s to the 1990’s. The 1970’s section is a great choice when booking a standard room. Location puts you close to the food court and main pool (the Hippy Dippy pool). Giant replicas of 1970’s memorabilia decorate the building and courtyard including the giant Big Wheel, a larger than life Mickey rotary phone, and the oversized foosball players ready for action! Rooms at Pop Century have recently been refurbished which also makes for a nice stay during your trip.
Pop Century - 1970s Building
Disney’s Pop Century Resort is broken down into sections based on the different styles of the different decades from the 1950’s all the way to the 1990’s. The 1960’s section reflects the groovy attitude of the time and is full of flower power and hippy fun.
